Confederation College's president has released a letter to their striking staff in advance of a vote this week on the latest contract offer.
Jim Madder agrees that academic freedom seems to be the sticking point to reaching an agreement.
However, he disagrees the issue is an "us or them" proposition.
Madder says the college will continue to consult with faculty, but at the same time it has to remain compliant with provincial standards.
Faculty are scheduled to vote on the last contract offer this week.
The strike is entering it's 5th week.
