A special emergency rescue team based out of Thunder Bay is getting some help from the province.
Thunder Bay-Atikokan MPP Bill Mauro says the government has invested in the unit.
Mauro says the team will have benefits for the entire northwest region.
"Thunder Bay is a hub when it comes to this issue. Is better positioned now to better respond to an urban search and rescue issue in Thunder Bay and across the provincel."
It's part of changes Ontario has made to its emergency management program in light of the Elliot Lake Mall collapse in 2012.
