Stratton's Trevor Bonot and his Mixed Curling rink remain perfect after a 6-5 extra end win this morning against Austria.

Austria, playing with just three players, forced extra play after scoring two in the seven and stealing one in the eight.

Bonot's foursome plays the Netherlands later today.

 

Fort Frances Lakers split their weekend games in the SIJLH.

They won 6-2 Friday over the visiting Minnesota Iron Rangers, but dropped a 6-2 game to the GM Ice Dogs the next night in Dryden.

 

In high school football, the Fort Frances Muskies lost 64-14 to Kildonan East on Friday.

Sekina Scheibler carried for 225 yards and a touchdown.

Sean Huziak also had a touchdown on a passing play.

 

International Falls Broncos football team was downed 48-8 by Two Harbors on Friday.

The Broncos girls volleyball team went 2-2 at a weekend tournament in Esko, beating South Ridge and Proctor but losing to Hermantown and Duluth Denfeld.

The Broncos boys cross-country team placed 7th at the Swain Invitational in Duluth.

Jake Erickson had the team's best showing in 38th.

Avery Sivonen was tops among the girls varisty runners in 61st.

 

Fort Frances Muskies cross county team was in Dryden for the Turkey Trot on Friday where Alexia Gate and Emma Toriseva were 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Grade 7-8 girls race.

Ashlyn Beck was 10th in the Grades 9-12 mixed event, the fourth female to finish.

Romeo Deafy was 11th in the same event.
