The chief of an area First Nation says she's not prepared to lift a state of emergency issued more than two years ago in the wage of a number of youth suicides.

Onigaming First Nation Chief Kathy Kishiqueb outlined her community's struggles to a parliamentary committee earlier this week.

Kishiqueb says there have been twenty suicide threats in the last three months.

Kishiqueb adds existing case workers have been overwhelmed by the number of children and families seeking help.
