The Rainy River District Fastball League final is all evened up.

Barwick Blue Knights forced a third and deciding game last night by defeating the Fort Frances Braves 4-1.

Game 3 will go next Wednesday night in Couchiching First Nation.

International Falls Broncos girls volleyball team won their home opener, beating Northwoods in four sets, 25-21, 15-25, 25-16 and 25-22.

Bianca Carlson led the way with 12 digs and 20 set assists.

Jena Sullivan recorded 6 digs, 7 kills and  8 ace blocks.

Teah Goulet had 17 digs.

 

Rainy River Voyageurs women's volleyball team dropped a four set match to Mesabi Range in Virginia.

Scores were 25-27, 31--29, 22-25 and 24-26.
 

Fort Frances Lakers open their training camp today.

Registration will start at 10 a.m. at the Memorial Sports Centre before players go through some off-ice testing.

Five scrimmages are planned during the camp which runs to Saturday.

The first will be held at 9:30 p.m. tonight.

 

The SIJHL is bringing back a mid-season All-Star game.

The game and skills competition will be played November 29th in Eveleth, Minnesota.

It will be known as the "Border Battle,' with featuring Canadian and U.S. players from all six member teams in the league.

The last SIJHL All-Star game was played in 2008.
